Romantic Mantel

Returning to My Romantic Side

009

Hi Bloggy Friends, about a decade ago, my entire home was decorated in a romantic style…lots of pinks everywhere. I moved away from this style for a long time but now find I am returning. (I love change.) So slowly, little bit by little bit, I am incorporating pinks into our home again. Very, very soft pinks and lots of white. I am totally in love with white and plan on doing a LOT of furniture repainting this spring and summer.  (Dear Lord, give me the energy.)

003

I am a ‘rose person.’ I just adore them and they are my birth flower. My husband gifted me with these last evening. The edges are ruffled and he wanted to know ‘what was wrong with them.’ Haha. I informed him they were supposed to be this way. I love that man!

005

This mantel is on the small electric fireplace I switched from the den to the dining room. It has such a cozy feeling in this room.

004

My favorite teacup….I wish I could find more of these.

008

002

Another note, my hubby wanted to know why in the world I would buy candlesticks (I have a pair of them) with the paint chipped off. Goodness, is he in for a surprise when I start knocking the paint off several pieces in our home. I am so blessed that he puts up with me. LOL :-)

Thanks ever so much for your visit.

Hi Barb,
I love the romantic look and adding the pink back to your decor would suit me just fine!
Love your roses. Men are so funny. Mr. Sissie always wonders why I paint something and it looks so good then I start sanding it and as he calls it, "messing everything up!" LOL!

I love the white look and will be looking forward to what you do there. Your roses are just lovely. How thoughtful that your hubby brought them home for you. I am wanting to put my little rose vignette together on my coffee table but haven't managed to find it yet. I'm still sorting away the Christmas things so hopefully will find them in one of my storage tubs along the way. I must remember to take my magic marker with me and mark what is inside each one. I started color coding the tubs but gave up on that. I do hope your Friday is a fantastic one!

I think I will always have a bit of pink in every room...I am a true romantic and I know you are, too. That is why we confuse our hubby's {although I secretly think they love the look}!!

The flowers are SO pretty, my favorite shade. I think it's time to treat myself to some!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

XO,
Janie

You have such a pretty mantel, Barb. Your roses are lovely and I love your sweet pink teacup! I had to giggle at your hubby because he sounds like mine. My hubby is learning as I've been distressing things up for a while now. My dear hubby is learning to use the right side of his brain, you see. :)

Blessings,
Sandi

Hi Barb...everything is so beautiful, and like you I love roses. As much as I love Pink Roses, I must admit that Yellow is my absolute favorite. It's a Gal from Texas thingy...you know 'The Yellow Rose of Texas'! Must be why I'm drawn to your teacup...LOL! Hope you find some more of those for your collection! Happy Pink Saturday!!!

Barb,

I laughed out loud when I just read what you wrote about your hubby's thoughts on chippy style. My husband says the same thing.

I show him blog pics, I show him magazine spreads - and he isn't budging about it, Now that doesn't mean I don't slowly bring the style IN but he always says with a wink "Hon, I think I have just the right color paint to fix that secondhand thing right up for ya!"

Also, what a lovely post. Just beautiful. And I can't wait to see your changes as they come. what a hopeful thing, isn't it? I love change too. Except it seems as though I want to hange t hings once I get them just perfect. I think I have issues. haha.

Happy New Year!

Hello Barb
After we moved forward from the oranges and browns of the 70's I've had pastel colours ever since. The re-introduction of pinks will be welcome at your home for sure.
The roses are pretty, what a sweet man you have.

Beautiful & soothing as always. I liked your comment about the candlesticks. When I am excited about something that looks old & chippy & my hubby tells me it looks like it is a hundred years old, I love it even more!
