2012 ~ A Fresh New Year

Living in the Moment or Thinking Ahead

005

Which do you do? Do you live in the moment or think ahead?

I do both but must admit I really enjoy thinking about and planning for what is coming up. I’m glad some of us are one way or the other or both. I think it would be dreadfully boring if we were all alike, don’t you?

006

My mind is already turning towards spring. I also want to note that I have seen dozens of blog posts talking about spring already…that is amazing.  I have always been a fall gal but in these last few years, I have noticed a shifting in my feelings. For two Autumns now, I could hardly wait for the season to be over. I think we all change at one time or another.

001

Just doing a bit of reflecting today. Trying to get around and visit with all of you…I have missed my time blogging lately but needed the time away to get some things done.

I wish all the best for each of you in this new year.

Barb

  1. I've been thinking about Spring a bit too. I like to look forward as well as enjoying the day. I haven't finished with Christmas yet though. I'm still enjoying that but with each new day, my thoughts turn to the future. It's nature's way, I think.
Lovely Spring colours on your Blog today.
Happy New Year to you and your family.

  2. I do both also Barb....I try to live in the moment..even forcing myself to take mental pictures to remember better. I wish I had done that when I was younger...a lot of that time is a blur!
But I am a dreamer...and I admit it. I have dreamed of possible things and things that would take a miracle to happen...but both are enjoyable.
To a present and daydreaming 2012!!!

  3. I always seem to be looking in all directions at once and maybe thats why I dont get as much done as I'd like too.
I want so much to live in the moment as I do realize thats all we really have and yet, the past pulls me back with a sight, scent or feeling- while the future yanks me forward with all that can Be..

  4. I really try to live in the moment, but do have some dreams and hopes for the future too. Each day, each moment of our lives goes by so fast that I don't want it to just slip away. Your spring flowers are delightful. Here at my house I have magnolias siting on the sideboard. They are white and are to represent the new Year. Although they are silk and not real I can almost smell their wonderful fragrance. Thank you too for always having such kind words to say and such an inspirational blog. Every time I look at the pictures you post, I can't help but to be inspired. Happy New Year!

  6. Barb, I tend to do both. In Winter I usually "hibernate" and mostly think for the moment, but in Spring, I'm in planning mode. Your pretty photos, start me thinking of my garden, which is BTW a mess and I'm not in 'clean up the yard mode'. :) Wishing you a great New Year,
    Babs

  7. It still hasn't felt like winter yet here in Virginia, so I'm looking forward to a few cold months where I can hibernate inside and not have to worry about yard work. I hope you have a wonderful 2012!

  12. Hi Barb,
What a beautiful photo of beautiful flowers...I love flowers so much..much more than my Valentine's...well, maybe equal..yes...they are equal...anyway, I have always been a Spring season gal..May thru June is my favorite...not too fond of the hot humid summer days and enjoy only the early fall..winter I could do without except for maybe one Norman Rockwell kind of winter snow fall..you know the real pretty picture of the snow and such!! So I say, bring on the Spring...LOL!

  14. Barb,
Each Season comes bearing its own gifts! So~o~ glad you're looking forward to Spring...as I turned the pages of my planner this morning, I saw that Easter is April 8...earlier this year! I am still craving some measurable SNOW here on the Prairie; however on our way to Worship this morning I saw two buds on my rose bushes??? 2012 is unfolding before our very eyes...hope it is filled with abundant riches for you, dear friend!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  18. Happy New Year, Barb! Oh, what lovely snaps! I like to plan ahead too. My hubby used to be a spur of the moment guy but the older he gets, the more he plans! I guess I like being prepared as best I can! :)
Here's to another year of blogging. It's so much fun, isn't it? And Barb, I always just love coming over for a visit.
    Be a sweetie,

  21. I still like Fall first then Spring. I have a lot to do between now and Spring, so hoping it moves fairly slow.:-) I try not to think too far ahead.

  22. Hi Barb,
I enjoy all the seasons but summer is the one I always want to hang onto a little longer.

  23. I love your header picture, Barb! I am definately a fall girl, but by the time spring gets here, I will be so happy. I am not a winter person at all, all of the brown, dead, surroundings are so depressing to me, not to mention being couped up in the house because of the weather. I am also a planner, and always on time for everything! I have to have everything planned out, and it just throws me into a tizzy if my schedule is not intact, lol. Anyhoo, I hope 2012 is going wonderfully for you!

  24. Happy New Year, Barb! Wishing you and Ron all the best this year.

I'm at a crossroads in my life and taking stock. I think I'll be ending my blogging journey.

No big, new plans this year, just a refocus of sorts.

    All the best,
    Judy

  25. Happy New Year, Barb! I mostly plan ahead but I do enjoy the moment too.
I have always been a Spring girl and I guess I always will be. Perhaps if I didn't live in a snow climate, I would enjoy Autumn more but as it is, Autumn usually depresses me because I know what is coming. I do NOT like the Winter!

Thank you for your visit and I look forward to your lovely posts and friendship in 2012.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  26. Hi, Barb...Happy New Year to you!
I think I am a "look ahead" sort of gal...I like to know I have something to look forward to!!! But spring, then fall, are my favorite months...
winter in Louisiana is sort of BLAH...never can tell what kind of weather we will be having, and summers are just 'way too hot for me...so I like to think ahead to what I will do when spring gets here and how I will "fix up" my front porch this year and what kind of flowers I will TRY to grow!!
Fall is usually a continuation of summer right through October,,,but by then the poor plants have grown weary of the heat and are dying out...
so I usually pot a few pretty new things for that space before the first frost....
Your flowers today were beautiful...I don't think anything perks up the heart more than pretty
    flowers, do you?
I have enjoyed your blog since I first found it and I look forward to another year of your lovely posts....
    Hugs, Francy......Yasmin Smith

  27. Barb,
I feel that way too... I'm looking forward to more light, to warm temperatures, flowers flowers flowers, staying outdoors in the garden or enjoying long country walks with my dog... or just sketching and taking pictures on the fresh, green grass!
I wish you all the best for 2012.
    Sending hugs,
    Monica xo

  28. Happy New Year Barb to you and Ron..this past year was very busy for me with my son-in-law deployed to Afghanistan and i spend a lot of time with my daughter and sweet grandson on the coast..I've not kept up with blogging myself or reading others blogs that often but hopefully things will change a bit now for me since my son-in-law is returning home next week after a year deployment! Regarding loving Spring...if you think back when we used to be on GF I was the lone ranger that always spoke of loving Spring the best of all..I've always loved Spring the most of all of the Seasons. I assumed it's because I was born on the first day of Spring but just the promise of new beginnings and seeing the earth come back to life always energizes me so much...I'm already planning my veggie garden!

  29. To tell you the truth, after Christmas I just try to GET THROUGH winter! I hate the cold so tend to hibernate and look forward to Spring. I love to change my surroundings for each season and winter seems so BARE and cold. This year will be a little differnet since the daughter and SIL are moving in:) XO, Pinky
