Roses and Shells

Remembering This Summer

Hello Friends, I have been daydreaming this morning and creating a few new vignettes throughout the house to celebrate the last days of summer. The light was so beautiful and intense in the dining room this morning that I had to shoot some pictures. I find that I love taking pictures.  My husband thinks this is a hoot since he has been trying to get me interested in photography since we were married…years ago. His dad was and his brother is a professional photographer. Yikes….I never realized what hard work it is. ;-)

I have a passion for roses and shells and they are everywhere in our cottage. Roses are one of the few flowers that don’t make me sneeze…isn’t that funny? The white roses, above, are my all time favorite color. They melt my heart.

It is hot in Florida but not nearly as bad as many places….we are blessed to have a steady breeze most of the time. I have spent a ton of time outside this summer training my Yorkie puppy, Mikey. He has been very difficult to train but I love him dearly….he is so tiny and cute!

Anyway, just bits and bobs of my day and thoughts. I do hope you are enjoying what is left of summer. I am seeing fall posts popping up everywhere in Blogland. It will be upon us before you know it.

  1. I'm glad you have discovered the joy of photography. With the digital age it is nearly instant gratification and easy enough to keep at it until we capture just what we are looking for. Your vignettes are lovely. So lovely.

  4. I've always thought you were quite good with your camera, Barb. And your beautiful home is the perfect subject!! White roses are my favorite, too.

    I'm glad your summer was nice, the heat gets to me, too, and we have been so lucky here in the Midwest. But yes, I'm looking forward to fall!

  10. Such a beautiful moment to photograph and white roses are my favorite, too. I don't think I'm quite ready to let go of summer. I just put in a fresh batch of annuals and their summer colors have made me swoon. I'm holding on till mid September to usher in fall. Have a wonderful day sweet friend. Patty

  15. Barb Barb Barb your pictures are beautiful and so inspiring. I love it. There are so many details to take in I could stare at them for hours!! Such creative ideas and sweet touches. I love love love it. Its funny we seem to be going in opposite directions. Im packing up my pink and green dishes as we speak and going for a more dark and primitive look for the cold months.
