Shell Love

They Always Make Me Smile

Hi Everyone….do you like/love shells? I do. They are everywhere in the beautiful state I live in….Florida. I have shells out in almost every room in the summer and place them in cabinets year round. They seem to ‘fit in’ with the Cottage Lifestyle so well.

I do hope you are enjoying your summer. It is very warm here and I must admit I am not a summer person…so I am struggling a bit. Air conditioning is a beautiful thing! :-)

Collections

The Beauty of Lladros

I am showing some of my Lladro collection. The figurines are done in the softest shades of pink mauves and soft blues that you can imagine.

This ballerina was the very first one in my collection which I started in 1990. She is seated and heavy so I feel free to leave her out. Most of my Lladros are very tall and slim so I put them away in cabinets with a kitty in the house.

This is The Dancer…she speaks to my free spirit.

This lady was a gift from my husband. He tends to choose the more involved ones for me, which is funny, because I like the plain ones the best. :-)

Look at the gorgeous colors on her gown and the little pink roses.

This is my tallest one called The Cocktail Party and perhaps my favorite…although I laugh when I say this because I love all of them!

The simplicity of the designs really speak to me. They are so calming and soothing and just a treat to look at. I hope you have enjoyed seeing some of my collection. Thank you so much for your visit.

Cloches

All Dressed For Summer

  I love cloches and have dressed a number of mine for summer. Hope you enjoy.

I placed my Fitz and Floyd shell under this cloche. This is a favorite piece of mine that I have had for many years. The colors are very, very soft.

This metal cloche is one of my all time favorites and many times I choose to display it with nothing inside.

Off to the Porch

For a Little Reading and a Little Eating

Okay, I refuse to do any more work today…..it is ‘quitting time!’ :-)

I’m off to the porch with my cherries and my magazine. (I probably won’t eat all those cherries!)  Yes, it is warm out there. Yikes….but I simply have to go outside for a while each day; with a ceiling fan overhead. (don’t laugh) :-)

I’m not a big summer person but I do enjoy all the wonderful fruit and veggies. Aren’t these cherries a thing of beauty and so delicious.

See the tomato sandwich…do you like them? I just love them but my hubby thinks they are revolting. They taste so refreshing in the summer. Yum!

  This issue of Victoria is a feast for the eyes!

Little Things

This and That and a Little Sewing, Too

Hi Everyone…gosh, I miss you all but I am getting a lot done. I am back to sewing…making lots of cottage pillows with just a touch of Victorian. Actually, I don’t have a set look. I just do what feels right at the moment. Ha.

I love little things….do you? These spools of ribbon on my work table just delight me. I have ribbon everywhere; it never fails to lift my spirits.

How about my new pin cushion…do you love it? It makes me giggle every time I look at it. I am really into looking at everything these days and ‘just drinking it in.’  I know, I know….that is probably odd but it feels renewing to me. :-)

I call these my ‘Cottage Cuties’….oh, I am having such fun making them. It feels so good to be back into my sewing. I had lost touch with it for a while. I am an extremely intense gal and it is easy for me to burn myself out. Yikes….I have to watch that. :-)

I’ll be back to visiting in just another day or so. Thanks for all the Rooster signups…I will get around to everyone as soon as I can.

Beautiful Sunday

Cutting and Sewing and Celebrating the Fourth

Hello….dear Bloggy Buddies, I hope your July 4th weekend is going great. We have had a wonderful time but dealing with rain on and off so most of the fireworks are ending up much later than I would like. Accckkkk!

I have spent much of my time today in my studio working on a new project. I finally feel like I am regaining my mojo. I have been in the ‘stuck stage’ for a while now. I visited several blogs recently that have just given me a new and refreshed spirit. Isn’t blogging wonderful!

So today I started taking apart a vintage quilt to make some embellished pillows. Mercy…I almost started crying cutting that quilt apart. (I know you are laughing. :-) ) I cut it in half…it was a huge one, and washed and dried each side. I only slightly dried each piece and ended up draping them over my family room dining chairs to finish drying. Oh….my goodness, all of a sudden I realized how good the chair backs would look covered. Yikes….having an imagination gets me into such trouble!!!! But the chairs will have to wait….I hear the pillows calling me. Barb…..Barb…..Barb. Ha!

Add on: (Monday) Check my sidebar for two of my pillows. Oh, I am having so much fun and my studio looks a mess. I love it!!

Of course, my little honey bunch had to come in and spend some time with Mom. This is my Missy and we are just the best of buddies. Now, back to work.

Looking Forward to the Holiday

Hi Friends, are you looking forward to the long July 4th weekend? I am! I have been working really hard lately and it will be so nice to spend time with my husband and our friends. Oh, I can’t wait for all the fireworks…I will be like a kid in a candy store. Ha.
