Hold On

The Rooster Party Info is Coming

007

Hello Friends….all the information for the upcoming ‘Show Us Your Roosters Party 2’ is coming soon, in the next day or so, hopefully. I am just a tad tired from all the wonderful parties and events in Blogland in the last several days. Didn’t we have a ball?

After considerable thought, I have decided to link to my sidebar just as I did last year. There will also be some surprises this year.  I hope you will join us and thanks for taking the Rooster Button (on my sidebar)  to help me spread the word.

Now, I’m off to get a little time on the porch…….ahhhhhhh!

Beautiful Pink

Sweet Gift from My Husband

It has been some time since I joined Pink Saturday, hosted by Beverly at How Sweet The Sound. Please visit her blog for a list of participants and to join all the Pink Fun! Thanks for hosting Beverly!

018

I have mentioned in a couple of prior posts that I collect Pink Milk Glass. Many people have never even heard of it but the serious collectors know all about it and how very difficult it is to find and how pricey it has become. I collected it for about 15 or so years before I all but gave up. It is  the softest and most delicate shade of pink….almost a ‘cream pink’…and in certain lights, it can become almost white.

016On the mantel above you can see some of my pieces. I have a rather large collection that is scattered everywhere in our home. The color makes it very easy to blend and mix with other pieces.

004

My dear husband surprised me with this divided platter for my birthday. It is one of the more rare pieces and one I have wanted for a very long time. Isn’t it beautiful? I hope you can see the delicate pink coloring. I shouldn’t have chosen to photograph this in the family room…..the room is filled to overflowing with light. :-)

006This is a powder box that I use for a candy dish. Hubby has been into the candy….look how much is gone! Ha.

012

I have several of the cake plates and they are among my favorite pieces.

007

009I found these butterfly dishes (also rare pieces) under about an inch of dust; I’m not kidding. I don’t think the seller had a clue as to their value.

013

I hope you enjoyed seeing my new gift from Ron and also some of my other pieces.

I will be around to visit everyone on Saturday. Thanks so much for stopping in to see me.

My Studio

My Creative Space

041 Hello, I am so glad to welcome you in to my Studio….my creative space. A space that fills me  with joy every single day.

 040

Please come in and sit in my chair while we take our tour…..♥

Several years ago my husband announced to me that he would build me a studio if I would design it. Could it be true? I was beside myself with complete joy. He has building experience and I have design experience…so it was a match made in Heaven. The pictures below are the result of his hard work and talent. He built the room, which took one year, to my exact specifications….to say I was delighted with it would be a huge understatement.  Here’s to my darling Ron….the absolute best husband ever!

032The room is large so I am blessed to have an area to sit and relax….listen to music or read. I keep some of my favorite books close at hand.

034

While we are over here, let me show you the thread rack Ron built for me.

001

The other counters are built in but I decided to have this one made into a table that would provide me with the option of moving it to different areas of the room. I decided to have the counters made in pink…a decision that was rare for me. I  ALWAYS put big-ticket items in neutrals…..but pink it was. I have never regretted it.

004

If you are a regular reader of Bella Vista, you know I am a seasonal gal and I have lots of decorative pieces. I designed shelves from where you see above to the very high ceiling (12 feet high) to hold my overflow decor pieces from the house.

There are also many shelves that hold overflow craft items that I did not photograph.

020

015This is a very large farm table (I just adore it) that I placed smack in the middle of my studio. It serves many and varied purposes….anything from a desk to laying out patterns for sewing.

003

007 I love lots of ‘things’ on my table to inspire me.

028

I use this area for paper crafting and card making.

030

I am crazy for stamps and have more than I can count!

001

003Beautiful papers give me such joy and I especially love Brenda Walton…..her things are filled with joy!

023

I do decorative painting in this area and I asked  Ron to include a sink. I was so tired of going into the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room  to change my paint water.  What a blessing this is! I have used this poor sink to death! Of course, this was a big undertaking for such a simple little sink…..plumbing always is!

024

021

007

This is my silk flower storage for arrangements I put together in the house.

I do hope you have enjoyed my studio. The room contains a few areas that I did not photograph…those are waiting for another time. ;-)

Thank you so much for visiting with me. I always love having you!

Just a Tease

A Wee Peek

043Okay, I am the first one to admit….I am an awful tease! I just had to give you a peek inside my Studio that will be upcoming on Saturday for the ‘Where Bloggers Create’ Party. I am so excited….I missed this party last year and my Studio is so very dear to me. I’m not showing any creative areas…..ha……just a peek! Please come back and see me.

Missing you all!

Shabby Roses

A Sweet New Pillow for my Sitting Room

007   Yesterday I found this beautiful pillow for my little sitting room. It is the softest, sweetest shade of blue and I placed it on my chaise. Isn’t it lovely and delicate? It just makes me happy.

005

My husband has been teasing me and calling me the ‘Pillow Queen’ of late. I am a pillow person….don’t laugh. It takes me forever to remove all the pillows from our bed.  A girl can never have enough of these little jewels.

Missy

Little Miss Queen Bee

001Yesterday I was working at my work table in my studio and had to leave for a few minutes to put a load of laundry in. When I came back, guess what I found in my workspace? The table is directly under a large skylight and my Missy was taking in the opportunity to sunbathe a bit! Ha. Don’t  you love it?

What would we do without our precious animals?

Have a wonderful weekend.

Hugs, Barb

Mantel Change

Roosters Take Center Stage

015I am now starting to remove many of the spring accessory items from our home and going to a richer and deeper color scheme. I generally do this starting in June and carrying through December. I especially love reds in the family room as the room is flooded with an abundance of natural light and the reds are always so welcoming.

003

Of course, if you read my blog, you already know of my love for Roosters. This fellow is quite large and one of my favorites.

007

012

Changing out the mantel is always fun. I love to lean my mirrors or pictures against the wall instead of hanging them…makes it so much easier to change my mind. :-)

011

I am linking to Table Top Tuesday hosted by Marty at A Stroll Thru Life. Please visit her blog for a list of participants. This is always such a fun meme and many thanks to Marty for hosting.

Thanks for your visit to spend some time with me. It is always appreciated!

Happy Tuesday, Barb

Pillow Talk

I Love This Pillow….Suits Me to a Tee

005

Hi Bloggy Buddies, I have missed you all. I took a week off to get some things done around the house and do some thinking. I am a reflective soul and have to get very quiet at times so I can hear my inner voice. Do you ever do that?

I’m still smiling about the pillow above….my husband and I both think it suits me to a ‘tee.’ Ha! Goodness, I am a pillow nut….they are everywhere in our cottage!

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Big ole hugs, Barb
