Enjoying the Season

Taking Time for Me and a Few Christmas Pictures

003Hello Friends, how are you today? I hope you are taking a bit of time for yourselves during this fast-paced season.

I decided to stop and have a cup of tea and a cookie. I am also so looking forward to reading my new magazine. English decorating is my all-time favorite.

The tree in the living room….it is a big one; 9 feet.

010

004

A glimpse of the slim tree in the Den. I really wanted a Country look with this tree. The tree is 7 1/2 feet tall but very slim. Our den is small, but since we use it a lot, I wanted the full impact of a tree and this one is letter perfect.

015

The Den Mantel….displaying a few of my Byers Choice Carolers. I have so many of these little characters that I have them everywhere in our home. I truly love them!

006

More Byers Carolers on the Family Room Mantel….told you they were everywhere. Ha.

018

This is my farmhouse hutch in the kitchen….it is large and covers most of the wall. It is truly one of my favorite pieces of furniture for seasonal decorating. I will probably paint it Cottage White in the future but for now, I am really enjoying the stain finish. I enjoy all kinds of wood finishes and would never limit myself to one kind.

The hutch in the kitchen….all decked out for Christmas.

Ho….Ho….Ho.

Merry Christmas!

Oh yes, I do love it. The English know how to live casually in a formal environment. I love those cookies, too!

Hi Barb, It is good to see your back and feeling better. This magazine looks delightful, to sit down and have a cup of tea, while browsing through. I may have to look into this magazine?

Thankfully you are feeling well and taking some time for yourself there. It is about time for that. You've been busy decorating I see...I'm doing very little this year, but I've added enough to make it feel Christmassy inside. I still have to do outside but today mother nature is doing the trick with lots of snow here.

Barb,

Every time I see one of your post with a cup of tea, I want to come share one with you. But then I picture myself being so taken with your lovely cottage. I picture you all peaceful in your little sitting room, and I hope your little time there will ease all that you have had to go through the past while. Hugs to you.

Hi Barb,
Looks like a cozy spot to relax! Your Christmas tree is divine! Love the colours on it! I sprained my wrist a couple of days ago so I have had to wrap up my decorating. Hope you're having a lovely day.

Blessings,
Sandi

I might have to try to find that magazine Barb as you have enticed me with that beautiful page spread you shared. Have a great 'you time'.

So nice to hear from you Barb. I have missed you too! I'm afraid I haven't been blogging or visiting as much as I used to either. It seems there has been one thing after another that has pulled me away. I haven't even been able to get up to the attic to start getting Christmas decor down!

I suppose when you reach the water's edge you'll have to stop! It must be a wonderful place. I love the water and have always wanted to be near it. We put our pool outside our kitchen window so I could see it while working there. As a baby I started swimming as soon as I could crawl, before I could even walk!

I'm off to look for that magazine online. It looks wonderful.
Hugs,
Dawn

Hi Barb. Good to see you again. The inside pages of that mag look great. You would never guess from the cover that such deliciousness was inside! I may look for this one. Other than the Matthew Mead bookazine I have not bought a single Christmas/holiday mag. I too like the English decor and have bought the British mags in the past. Take care and enjoy your down time.

Just so lovely, Barb! That is one of my favorite magazines. Sometimes I wish Barnes and Noble was just a tad bit closer.

My Christmas magazines are stacked high and I think I'm finally caught up to a place I can actually take time to read them! I start early with the shopping, wrapping and decorating so that I can actually enjoy the time as the holiday gets closer!

Hi Barb and yes that Magazine looks fabulous! I also have fallen behind on my visits with all the holiday stuff. I couldn't be online yesterday and I nearly fell off my chair when I saw all the posts I had missed...:(
Have a wonderful Sunday and enjoy the rest and the Magazine...

That magazine looks beautiful Barb. I have never seen it; where did you get it? Glad you are taking some time for yourself with a cup of tea (cookies too). We all need to do this, especially during this busy time of year.

Just a little something from Judy said...

It relaxes me just to visit your blog today and see this lovely, calming post. I too, treasure time to sit and read with my cup of coffee. It is so necessary for each of us to do that. The magazine you shared is also one of my very favorites. I was looking through my Dec. 2009 copy a few days ago. The pictures in it are beautiful! So is your post.
