Baking, Cooking & Puttering

The Joys of  Fall

007 Hello Everyone, I hope you are enjoying this lovely and refreshing weather. It was a long, hot summer in Florida and this is such a blessed change. Love it!

010

I have set aside this afternoon to bake and cook….yes, I am one of those people who actually enjoy it. Baking, especially, relaxes me. And, the wonderful scents wafting through the house are divine. I think I will make the two recipes that you see above from the newest Autumn Gooseberry cookbook.

011

I am making lasagna for dinner with hot buttered bread and a big green salad. I know this will put a huge smile on my hubs face. :-) He thinks we are eating out. (*wink*)

014

I wanted to show you the latest candle topper I found. It is all about Fall, of course.

I’m starting to think about Halloween decorating. How about you? Sometimes I do a huge spider web on the front window with a heavy, heavy thread but it takes several hours. The little kids just love it.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and have wonderful weather.

Barb

  2. HI Barb,

I so love fall too! And your decorations are so pretty! I adore the glass canisters too, I've always loved the tea cup idea :) I don't do very much in the way of fall decorations, just some fresh white pumpkins scattered on the mantel and I change around the house and bring out the warmer items and colors. I love candles in the fall and so lighting them through out the house is a favorite of mine, especially the cookie and pie scented ones :) Yum :)

    Happy Fall to you!

    Hugs, Cynthia

  4. Dinner sounds wonderful Barb! I know what you mean because I love baking and it is definitely my happy place. Making bread is especially relaxing for me. I love to spend hours in the kitchen baking.

I have not been much on decorating for Halloween, but I actually put out a couple of simple things this year that I found tucked in with some fall decorations.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

  7. Barb,

You have inspired me to do some baking. I'm thinking about a spice cake with cream cheese icing. Nothing says fall to me like a slice of spice cake and a fresh cup of coffee. Bet my sweet hubby would enjoy that too.

    Enjoy your day.

  11. Great minds think alike: I made a delectable spice cake last night with a rich, maple buttercream frosting - from scratch!

This weekend we're decorating for Halloween outside; visiting an apple orchard to pick our own apples (to make chocolate caramel apples!) and take a hayride; and going to a fall party to carve pumpkins! LOVE this time of year!

Enjoy your baking blitz and have a blessed, joyful weekend!

  21. Miss Barb,
You are so right! This summer has been unbearable. I've seen people out all week with the lovely temps. My favorite part with the cooler temps is seeing the clear blue skies without a cloud in the sky. I hope this weather last for a while. It's refreshing! Even my kitty and dog are frisky and enjoying being outside.
    Hugs,
    LaDonna

  22. Today I cleaned and decorated just a bit while Chelsea made a wonderful pumpkin pie and the lasagna. I was totally planning on making the lasagna myself...but...with someone so willing and eager it only seemed right to let her do it.

I am sure your husband was very thrilled to enjoy your lasagna and baked treats.

(I want to plan a night when Dear Daughter can have some too!) For today, once I break away from my crochet projects, I think I'll be trying out a pumpkin muffin recipe!.. Have a wonderful weekend! ~tina
