Off to the Porch

For a Little Reading and a Little Eating

005Okay, I refuse to do any more work today…..it is ‘quitting time!’ :-)

I’m off to the porch with my cherries and my magazine. (I probably won’t eat all those cherries!)  Yes, it is warm out there. Yikes….but I simply have to go outside for a while each day; with a ceiling fan overhead. (don’t laugh) :-)

007

I’m not a big summer person but I do enjoy all the wonderful fruit and veggies. Aren’t these cherries a thing of beauty and so delicious.

003

See the tomato sandwich…do you like them? I just love them but my hubby thinks they are revolting. They taste so refreshing in the summer. Yum!

001  This issue of Victoria is a feast for the eyes!

Hope your summer day is treating you well.

Barb

Lovely post Barb. I haven't taken the time to look at my new issue. You reminded me to take the time to sit down and relax and on the front porch in my rocking chair will be the perfect spot even if it is HHH here in our area of N FL.

Have a wonderful afternoon, Carolyn/A Southerners Notebook

I could eat that bowl of cherries and then some! Love fresh summer produce (and am SO grateful for my garden!)

Enjoy your quiet time reading that beautiful magazine. I'm pea green with envy!

{Pssst: I was doing a little fall dreaming today, myself!}

Hello Barb,

The cherries look delicious! I love tomato sandwiches and they are one of my favorite summertime lunches. One of our clients brings us Ugly Ripe tomatoes and they are by far the best for making a tomato sandwich!

Hope you enjoy your time or on the porch. You won't find me laughing about a fan on the porch! I think the heat index is about 106 here today. I had to go out earlier, came in a took a short nap. :D

Those cherries would be gone in a few moments if they were put in front of me...so yummy! And yes, the tomatoe sandwhic....grew up with them. They were so quick and easy to make. Fresh right out of Gramps garden, his tomotoes didn't last long for sure. I love 'Victoria', I have every issue ever printed. And the first issue is still as exciting as it was when first published.
Enjoy the harvest of summer's fruit and veggies...

I am enjoying that same issue of Victoria. It's my favorite magazine, though I also love Southern Lady and Tea Time and a few others.

I have five cherry trees, and would you believe, I'm not getting a single cherry this year. A miserable spring, including freezes in late April and early May, killed everything. No cherries for me this year, unless I want to buy them at the store for $3.98 a pound.

Enjoy!!

Hugs,
Patti

Hi Barb,
I love tomato sandwiches! Tomato and butter on toast! Or, tomato and cucumber on rye bread! YUM!

I love this issue of Victoria. Enjoy your little rest on the porch under the fan.

Hi Barb! My kids used to have a guinea pig as a pet, and these kind of cherries were her favorite snack! She would get one after dinner, every night!.. As for tomatoes, I get mixed reviews from the kids. One likes them and the other one doesn't; but I LOVE them!.. Well, some time on the porch sounds wonderful! Yes, enough housework is enough!.. Enjoy!! ~tina

Hi Barb, I understand about the heat and girl your cherries and magazine look so inviting-can I come join you. I think I'll definitely have to get the magazine-the tomatoe sandwich looks so good.

You're absolutely right about this issue! We had to go to Dallas today (a 90 minute drive), and I took mine along to read. LOVED it! Of course you know it had my colors this issue and I was just thrilled with the magazine from front to back. (I have a ceiling fan out under my pavilion. This kind of heat about kills you.)

I do love 'mater sandwiches, Barb. And peaches and berries and fresh veggies like corn and okra and tomatoes and peas. If we could just have all that without the heat and humidity....

Barb, your cherries look delish! I bet they are too. I love tomato sandwiches! Especially with our homegrown ones from the garden. I love fried green tomatoes too. Guess you can tell I'm from the South.
