Outdoor Wednesday

Hello and welcome to Outdoor Wednesday hosted by Susan at A Southern Daydreamer. Please visit her blog for a complete list of participants.

Saturday...my husband and I drove over to St Augustine, Florida. It is the oldest city in the United States.

I wanted to go in the lighthouse but no way I am climbing all those stairs in this heat. We will return in the Fall. Yikes!

I fell in love with this tree but don't have a clue what it is called.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful and cool Wednesday!

  1. I love lighthouses. This is gorgeous.
We went traipsing around the Ozarks, yesterday. When we were climbing back up the trail, from our little hike, I told J it reminded me of the time we went to the shore below Split Rock Light, in MN. The climb down was not so bad, but I don't think I could make that climb back, to the lighthouse, these days! WOW! Then we climbed the steps in the lighthouse! Cooler days and younger folks!

  7. Your photos are just fantastic. Don't you wish you could just capture those times and hold them in your mind forever. In the cool days of fall, the trip up would be more pleasant. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Love it all Sweet B! I wouldn't have even attempted to climb those stairs.

I also sooo love the beautiful tree. God's goodness is overflowing with this lovely example of His handiwork.

God is good, all the time.

Love, Rebecca PS: Yes, I do paint more than just pink roses. Grapes, ivy, hydrangeas...they just don't inspire me as much as roses do... :) xo

  9. For a landlocked girl, I am in love with lighthouses. I love this one and have seen it once when I visited St. Augustine. I was there to see the oldest school in America!

  10. Lighthouses are charming. This one looks interesting because of the unusual roof on the adjoining building. I'd like to see inside it too. Don't blame you about those steps!

  14. Barb, loved seeing the lighthouse. I have been to the top, and I have vertigo... two friends wedged me between them! LOL! I love the lighttender's house, too. I'm thinking that the tree you pointed out is a very old cedar that has been thinned out. It looks like ferns are growing up its branches. We have that on an oak at our residence. The next time you come over, call me. I would love to hook up with you. We have a retreat there.

    Happy Outdoor Wednesday...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  22. I was at Neptune Beach in May and my cousin planned to take me to St. Augustine for my first visit. That's when it rained non-stop for a week — the week of my vacation! So, until I have the chance to go again, I will enjoy your beautiful photos.

  23. I don't know why lighthouses feel so romantic to me ~ I guess it's because they represent a time gone by. The only one I've seen on the West coast is at Santa Cruz. It was a small one that now houses a surfing museum.

I hope whatever is growing on that tree doesn't kill it! Have you seen the post @ Cote de Texas about the historic trees all dying because of the huricane and too much saltwater? It's so sad.

  45. St Augustine is on my bucket list of places to visit. The lighthouse is wonderful and you were so close to precious Mrs Magpie! (Sheila)
I wouldn't have been able to climb the stairs in the heat and humidity this time of year! The fall sounds wise.

  47. Hi Barb, love the light house. I have been to San Augustine about 6 years ago, while visiting my cousins in Jax. Also, I've climbed a light house here in Palos Verdes Peninsula, and it was scary (for the stiff flight of stairs.
