Hi everyone....welcome to another Tea Time Tuesday hosted by Barb at
Grits and Glamour. Please visit her blog for a complete list of all the participants and all the tea goodies!
Tea and Reading

When I really want a treat....I take to my bedroom chaise with a cup of tea and some reading material. Yes, I 'take to'.....after all, I am Southern and these things are a big deal. Ha..Ha!

The dessert plate and teacup are Royal Albert...in the Old Country Roses pattern. The glass tray, I have had for years...don't remember where I purchased it.

Alexandra Stoddard is one of my favorite writers and I have ALL but two of her books...that is a lot of reading material. I also adore Country Living Magazine.

I always like a little candlelight. It is truly amazing to me how a candle can settle you down and help you to relax.

I hope you enjoyed my tea tray with me and please be sure to visit all the ladies. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Everything looks so pretty*! I'm glad I came to your tea party*! _Ashley*
ReplyDeleteHi Barb, Now that's my definition of relaxation - a cup of tea, some sweets, and a good book. Aaahh.
ReplyDeleteI just finished a book called Death by Darjeeling by Laura Childs. It's part of a series called the Tea House Mysteries. It's no Jane Austen, but it's a fun read for tea lovers like me!
It was relaxing just to see and read about.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day today.
Stay cool...
Oh, Barb, how beautiful! I would take to your room with you for tea any time! Everything is just so lovely.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
How pretty! I also used Old Country Rose china for my tea party. Don't you just love those dishes?
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Barb! What a sweet little tea tray. I especially love that glass tray! Old Country Roses are always such a pleasure to see in a tablescape..and yours look lovely on that tray! Simple and elegant...
ReplyDeleteHi, Barb! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Ooooh! Your home is so romantic and relaxing! ♥
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky to have such a fabulous place to relax & unwind. I love "Old Country Roses". I bought my "Old Country Roses" teacup & saucer in England. I wanted to buy items from their country of origin when I went to Europe.
ReplyDeleteI soooo want one of the chaise chairs! LOVE your touch my friend. You have such a gift. I love to visit!

What a relaxing spot to "take to"! Thank you for the nice comment about my header. The photo is a section of my hutch. Someday I'll show some whole rooms, once I get the kids to pick up after themsleves!
ReplyDeleteDawn
How lovely-
ReplyDeleteI have a chaise out in the garage waiting to be recovered, and I love Alexandra Stoddard.
Kindred spirits!
Laura
Pretty pictures like yours, are the reason we had to move south. Everything looks so lady-like and I figured with menopause creeping up, I needed something to keep me feminine. My bedside table would inspire nothing!!! There is a lamp without a shade, two books, and a magazine. Yes, I am in need of help!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I love Alexandra Stoddard too but don't have anywhere near all of her books - but I do have several. Your Old Country Roses is lovely and the little votive candle adds just the right touch.
ReplyDeleteRobin
Just beautiful....The tarts look so good! And the votive candle makes the whole vignette so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely setting. Are the tarts real? Did I miss that part? Yummy looking either way.
ReplyDeleteI sell the tassel on your lamp and never thought to do that for me. Great idea.
It came as no surprise to me, when I read that you like Alexandra Stoddard's books. The beauty you add to each post and in the relaxing, calming manner that you do it, reminds me exactly of her and her style. What a treat to sit down with that filled glass tray, in that beautiufl chair and read. I think that sounds about as good as it gets.
ReplyDeleteBarb that's so pretty! I love Alexandra Stoddard too as a matter of fact I'm re-reading "The Art of the Possible".
ReplyDeleteManuela
I'm from NY and never heard the expression "take to" but love it! When my favorite magazines arrive, I never realized it before, but I too take to my bedroom! Happy tablescaping - The Tablescaper
ReplyDeleteAlexandra Stoddard is my homemaking hero! I learned so much about the little details from her. (But I'm still trying to convince my husband to let me paint the pantry blue and white a la Stonington!)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and I agree with you that candle light can have an amazing impact.
