I Love Cookbooks!

Hello and welcome to my first Sunday Favorites hosted by Chari at Happy to Design. Please visit her blog for a complete list of participants. This was originally posted in February when my blog was only a few weeks old. http://happytodesign.blogspot.com/

I am a cookbook lover and collector. I read them just like novels and I am almost always drawn to them when I enter a bookstore. I have over a hundred of them and keep them stored in a bookcase in the guest room...of all places. But I have so many, I now have them displayed all over the place. They make me happy!

I love the colorful and beautiful images on the covers and the way everyone seems so happy. I always date my cookbooks and make little notes when I try out a recipe...like did we enjoy it and so forth. I often times find myself 'tweaking' a recipe for my own needs.

Did I mention I love to cook? Yes, I do! How about you.....do you like/love cookbooks?

I love cookbooks! I buy them all the time and usually only have time for using a few select ones. People try to buy cookbooks for me, but that doesn't work. I have to hold it, look at the pictures, see how the author writes.

That is probably why I look Gooseberry books so much!

I too love cookbooks, but for me I love the older ones. I have a small collection that was my gram and aunts and I love them.

By the way I love what little bit of the red I see in your kitchen. You have to post pics one day as I have red speckled in my kitchen also.

Hi Barb! I have a favorite cookbook that was my Memaw's. I like to get recipes from people I know. I figure if they have tried it, it will be good.

I do not have a lot of cook books. Have passed them on over the years. I have cooked a lot, "slunge those pots & pans" & am now at a stage of life of "do what ever" with a "Dab of this and That" & hope for the best. :) It usually comes out pretty good.

I love cookbooks too and have lots of them. I like to display some of them in the kitchen too. Like Anne, I would love to see more pics of your kitchen. I know you have touches of red here and there too. I LOVE red!!!

Barb, what a lovely blog you have. I enjoyed looking through. I don't buy new cookbooks anymore, but I have some old favorites that I won't let go of. I love to look through Susan Branch and enjoy her art. Annie and Missy are so sweet. What would we do without our pets?

Hi Barb,
I love the little red bandana on your stately looking rooster! :o)

Yes, I'm a cookbook lover as well. Have lots of them ~ gathered over the yrs. Lots of yard sale purchases. I don't think I've ever bought a new one. LOL I'm constantly clipping recipes out of magazines & newspapers. I need to organize them soon. It'll be a huge task. Something to do in these cold winter months?

Sending lots of hugs,
Mardell

I have a few, but I'll admit I don't refer to them as often as I should. That's probably why I don't collect more of them. Their meant to be used, not just for decoration.....or not! ;) I do wish I'd been able to keep the two vintage cookbooks my mother had.

All 3 of my DILs love cookbooks and collects them. I am sorry and a little ashamed too admit I just rather spend my free time drawing and painting. My Brother loved books and would read every chance he got, where I would do the same with drawing. Now I do read and have even read some pretty big books..lol..when Mom would make me. I like to buy cookbooks at all of the vacation spots or when traveling as souvenirs, but seldom use them...I am pitiful aren't I.
Oh BTW, I do love your Roosters, I am a country girl and anything country grabs me. You post was so lovely.
Thank you for stopping by my blog. I used to sew alot and made dolls years ago and just got out of it. Need to start back.

Barb,
Thanks for the warm welcome. My favorite cookbook is one that was done for a church fundrasier by my great aunt. She sent us all copies and we were thrilled to find that she had included many of my grandmother's recipe's in it. I will always treasure it.

What a great idea to make comments in your cookbooks. I'll have to remember that.

Back in the day when I was actually domestic I loved cooking and cook books. Not so much anymore - - - - too old and tired and droopy these days.

Hi Barb...

Yeeehawww!!! I'm just so happy to welcome you to your very first Sunday Favorites!!! I'm so glad that you jumped in on all the fun, my friend!!!

I just love this post that you chose to reshare with all of us...although it's brand spankin' new to me, my friend! I love cookbooks too...but must admit that I love cookbooks probably more than I love cooking...hehe! Your "Summer In the Country" cookbook looks interesting...I'd love that! You would just love all the cookbooks that I recently acquired from my mother-in-law who has passed on. She had all kinds of old Swedish cookbooks.

I really enjoyed seeing a small part of your kitchen...love that big ol' white rooster! Your home is beautiful!!! I was going down through some of your past posts...you have a delightful blog! I just added you to my list of blog follows and look forward to your upcoming posts...also going back through your back posts as well!

Thanks again for joining in with Sunday Favorites...hope you've had fun and will participate again!

Warmest wishes,
Chari
