Pretty display Barb...you need to post the instructions for making that faux cake...was it you that posted the instructions for us years ago? I recall a flurry of posting on the boards about making the faux cakes but I never made one myself...recall that styrofoam was used and then bags of that easter grass in the white was glued on...can't recall any other steps though...
Hi Barb, I love your new cake plate and the cake looks so real I could eat a slice! Don't you just love Marshall's? I could go once a week and always find a great buy! Have a great Sunday, Karen
Gayle, I think I was one of several that posted...can't remember. Ha.
I made tons of these for craft shows and they were very successful. You just glue together the styrofoam discs and then glue on the Easter grass. (this part takes lots of practice) Then, you add the elements of your choice.
Barb, I wish my Marshall's had pretty things. Our Marshall's is so dirty and unorganized and never has anything nice. I get so mad when I do go in there.
I love that cake. Barb, I am going to have to try it. I have seen it done with plaster but your directions seem so much easier.
That cake plate is so pretty and the faux cake too. But I think I spotted a real cake in the background on the shelf....;) Now I have to go bake a cake because I am craving one. LOL
I LOVE that cake stand and I thought the cake was real too. This looks so pretty and now I want to make a faux cake too. Makes me hungry for some...mmmm.
OH My I just love the cake plate you found!! The faux cake is AMAZING TOO!!! You are so,so talented!! I would try to make one but I just know mine would turn out messy. What kind of glue do you use? Did you make the strawberries to be sugared too or did you purchase those? I have never seen sugared ones before. I JUST LOVE IT!!!!
Joy, I actually use hot glue from a gun but you must be really, really careful. It does take practice but the hot glue keeps the grass sticking for years.
That is adorable!! I love how cute it is with a faux cake. I'll bet it is adorable with a real one!
