Projects, Projects

002

Hello, just popping in to show the latest with my Farmhouse Hutch. We painted it with Annie Sloan’s French Linen and waxed it with the clear wax. The paint is great….very impressive with no smell at all but the wax was completely toxic to me. My husband did all that work! I was going to distress the cabinet but now, don’t know if I will or not. I tend to like things very clean looking.

Also changed the hardware. I love the elegant knobs combined with the rustic quality of the hutch and buffet.  The small hole is for a little lamp cord. I will replace all the goodies on Monday and then photograph it again….all prettied up. :-)

So far, I love the color; we are going to live with the color for a few weeks but will probably paint our kitchen cabinets with it. Both my hubby and I really like it.

Now, we are working on the pump for our sprinkler system. It had to be dismantled for the dock rebuilding. Our grass will be so glad to have it back again. It is dry in our area.

So….you can hear, I am busy, busy. The weather is gorgeous and it takes a lot to keep me  out of one of the porch chairs and reading a bit. Love!

Hope your Sunday is going great.

Chalk Paint, Working Hard and A Win

001

Well….Bloggy Buddies….I am finally taking the plunge and painting my kitchen hutch with the Chalk Paint I have heard about all over Blogland.

I do decorative painting but I am downright messy when painting walls and furniture and I end up with more paint on myself than I do on the thing I am painting. :-) After seeing the cost of this stuff…..good grief (!), my husband offered to do the job for me….probably so I won’t have to go out and buy more paint. Yikes…..is he a great guy or what?!

Will post when it is completed. Wish me well.

Add on: Working away on the Farmhouse hutch….it is over five feet wide! I don’t do well with messes and my kitchen is in a mess! This is a rare before picture for Bella Vista. I don’t do many of them….not big on showing the mess…yikes! Painting the bottom half tonight and then the waxing…..think I like it. Time will tell.

The color is French Linen and has a somewhat bluish cast…although it looks greenish in the photo. I think it changes with the light. The paint texture is great and goes a long way…..it should at $35.00 for a quart. I still can’t get over this. :-)

I won these adorable snowman earrings from Jan at All Ways Designing. Please pay her a visit and check out her sweet blog. Thanks so much, Jan!

Hope your weather is beautiful and you are enjoying these gorgeous days.

Downton Abbey

Downton Abbey

(Photo:  Courtesy of Google)

I love PBS and I love Masterpiece Theatre and I love Downton Abbey.

This series just ended its second season a few weeks ago. I have the first season on DVD and will watch it again this weekend. My hubby just flew in from a business trip and he is sick. Poor baby ~ a cold.

Did you see it? Gosh, except for the fact that these dear souls didn’t have air conditioning (yikes!)…..this would be the place and time for me. I loved every second of it and so look forward to seeing it again.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy this most beautiful weather. Oh, I will be on the sun porch, too, I have it all cleaned. Haha

Bunny Love

016

This is a red-letter day in my household…..I am taking all my bunnies out today for displaying around the house in vignettes. Don’t laugh. :-)

I am a bunny-a-holic and love them so much. Along with flowers, they make me ‘know’ that spring is with us. Yay!

I’m off to clean the porch….the pollen has made a mess of it and then rearrange and decorate it with….you guessed it…..bunnies!

Hope you have a grand day.
